Uncovering the story of the boy's life and why he was on the streets involves gathering insights from him, his family, and even neighbors. This process includes locating both direct and extended family members.
Conducting multiple visits with the boy and his family to facilitate reconciliation, healing, and addressing any underlying issues.
Once the boy and his safest family member are prepared for reunion, the boy returns home to be with his family or extended family.
Our dedicated social workers maintain regular follow-up, initially on a weekly basis, which may transition to monthly visits as the family settles.
Help street connected youth return home.
Where they belong.
At age 11, Sam's parents could no longer afford his school fees, leaving him in poverty without the promise of an education. In hopes of a better future, Sam ran away from home to the streets of Kitale, Kenya, only to experience 6 years of hardship and addiction. Too ashamed to return home, he lived in isolation. In 2022, he met a Milele outreach worker and joined Milele's rehabilitation program. Through Milele, he received an education, addiction recovery, and trauma support. He experienced the power of a mother's forgiveness and was finally reunited with his family. Today, Sam knows what it means to belong.
